Winter is still out there | Published on DooHickey magazine #17

Hello friends!

Thank you so much for taking your time to visiting my post, on this holiday.

If you bought the DooHickey dies club from Magnolia you might remember this card published on the magazine that come along with the die set. In case you missed it – I’m sharing this card here on my blog and will share it in my Instagram too, so do take a look!

Card Details :
I started working on my card by selecting images I wanted to use – I used Tilda with Reindeer
stamped her on a piece of watercolor paper with Ranger Dye ink - Black tie. I stick on watercolor to coloring her.
And then I gave her a winter scenery with my hand painted, I was inspired with some pictures somewhere from Internet and I tried to paint it with my imagination.
I used mostly Daniel Smith watercolors and some of Winsor and Newton - Cotman. While the snow effect were from white gouache.

This is the closer look :)
I wish .. it captured the winter quiet fine ..
 Tips :
One tip for a really easy scene: create a frame of trees around the focal image. Trees don’t have to be hard – scribbles can appear to be trees even if they are not really perfectly done!

Thank you so much for reading, sending you the warmest hugs!

Spoiled by Gingerbread | Journaling with Magnolia

Hi friends!

Welcome back for another post about my journal page, today I am featuring an images from Magnolia [Christmas Party collection] - Gingerbread Tilda.
I love to get a smell of the most popular item of this the season : Gingerbread :)

Story :

I've found that December spends a lot of time, though this month is my favorite time of the year!
I am popping in with a page of my traveler's journal today and it is about my thought in coloring. This year I have been enjoying coloring using various coloring mediums more than ever especially watercolor and I’ve made lots of discoveries for myself and learned many new and interesting things in terms of coloring so I decided to remind my self that however I still need to do a simple way to color when I need just a relaxing after the busy days, and yup I found that I am enjoying the way I color her with not too much detail and awed by the cute of the image it self.

Okay, this seems to be the longest sentence I've ever written (hopefully you do not mind) but this note gives me new energy to continue my craft journey for years to come :)

That is the full view of my page and this sentiment below is from Magnolia stamp:

Thank you so much for reading and just because tonight is Christmas eve I wish you all the most beautiful Christmas.
May all the Joy and Peace be with Us!

you know what ... I turn on the ABBA music - Happy New Year  when I made this card.

Card Details :

I started working on my card by stamping a sentiment with Versamark and heat embossing with white powder, next I did a watercolor loose paint on a piece of watercolor paper then cut with the dies and glittering them. later I colored the image using distress ink and some watercolor paint.

I filmed a video tutorial showing how to create this project from start to finish. I’m hoping you’ll enjoy it. Watch it below or on HERE

Happy new year...
Happy new year...
May we all have a vision now and then
Of a world where every neighbor is a friend.....

Chinese painting on art journal Ft. Edwin Ninja

Hello friends!

I feel like it’s quiet fast from my latest post on my blog, but I have lots of  ideas in my head for my crafting journey and a few fun Instagram stories to tell!
Today I have a rather simple journal pages to share featuring Edwin Ninja [from Magnolia stamp, of course!] along with a very easy Chinese painting. I actually wrote this pages back in few days ago and never got around to posting it.
I am struggling to learn how to handle a Chinese brush to paint, especially on the particular small area like a journal page.

I find it isn't easy .. but I have to learn harder if I want to get a better skill.
When I write in my journal, I don’t dwell on things that went wrong. Focus on the positive aspects of my day or week.
Because I love to write it and read again in the future!

I treasure these words:
"The man who moves a mountain must start by moving small stones."
Chinese proverb

Details;

First of all, I color the image with watercolor mediums. This Image really talked abut the "never give up" then I combine him with Bamboo -- in this case I choose Bamboo because I can learn how to paint the stroke for stem and paint the leaves after that.
I am using Kuretake Gansai Tambi - Japanese watercolor that have creamy texture which is easy to use on this particular Chinese painting, in my opinion!
For the final touch, the glamorous gold splatters from Kuretake Starry Night has made a different gorgeous look.

This is my name in Chinese letter :)

Thank you so much for reading!

Rain or Shine I will always be here | Halloween week stamp 04 - Day 08

Hello, friends!

It’s almost end of week 02 of the month and it means it’s time for me to post another card that I made for Magnolia Halloween week series.
This time I am so inspired with the popular pinky sayings / quote :
Rain or shine I'll always be here!
it says about friendship and I adore this quote so much, I think this theme so fit with the Tilda in the rain that I've got from the bag for day 08.

Card Details :

I started working on these by picking out a few kind of Magnolia DooHickey dies from my supplies and picked some pattern paper. I also did a manual stitching around the focal panel on my cards.
I didn't doing something fancy here, because the image it self already talked about the message I want to say.
Just adding the two hedgehogs because in my imagination .. sometimes they are out for earthworm after the the rainy day  .. correct me if I am wrong :)

Supplies :

Magnolia stamp - Halloween Box day 08
Frame - Magnolia Vintage Box Circus
other dies coming from DooHickey Box.

Thank you for peeking my card today and wishing you all a lovely day!

Heart shape one layer card | Halloween week stamp 03 - Day 05

Hello friends!

For my today’s blog post I decided to continue exploring to make a colored background using inks blending, and I use some colors from Distress ink.
I have so much fun to play this and also I combine this technique with a shape one layer card.

Card Details;
I looked through my stash in search of the color for background and I decided to use Fossilized amber; Seedless preserves and Gathered twigs .. they smelt like autumn air aren't they ?
Once my background dried I am going to come in with some clean water on my fingers, kind of just drop some on and kind of splatter it, then I used paper towel to sop that up, and left behind water droplet areas.
I also picked a pale gold Gansai Tambi from Kuretake to make gold splatter.
The wording was from Fiskars; for me this set is my ready to go sentiment.

Supplies :
Image - Magnolia Halloween Box day 05
Heart shape dies - Magnolia Vintage Box
Distress inks | Gansai Tambi starry colors | Fiskars wording

Thank you so much for your support, and until the next post!
Have a wonderful day!

Autumn in Korea Ft. Korean Tilda

Good Day all!
It's week 01 at September and today we have a sunny day on Sunday :)
I am so happy to have something to share here, and this time I am featuring Korean Tilda from Magnolia along with my watercolor painting;

I made a simple design with this image and I try to provide an inspiration with autumn feeling, as we will meet autumn very soon and saying goodbye to summer!

Honestly, I never been to Korea and I live on the country that only have two seasons so we don't have neither summer or autumn, so for the scene that I painted that wasn't the real scene that I ever saw! I was searching around the internet and I found some photo stock about Korean village and I tried to do my doodling to capture the autumn scene, so I apologize if I can't provided the truly beauty of Korea.

I saw at movie, television and many pictures around Instagram how beautiful the scene of Korea! I wish I can go there someday especially on autumn or winter .. hopefully!

Here is a bit close up about my doodling and painting;

I am using my fave medium; watercolor! and I use some various brand, mainly Winsor and Newton but Daniel Smith also won my heart with their beautiful color. I have bought a new color : Amiata natural sienna from Daniel Smith and gosh it was beautiful warm soft yellow that I really want to have.
I also use a color from Kuretake Gansai Tambi, deep brown color and I always count on this color for Asian taste on my painting. Thanks to white guache! this paint can help to give some highlight here and there
For finishing touch, I randomly color a watercolor paper scrap with autumn color and cut it out with leaves dies from Magnolia.

Supplies :
Magnolia stamp - Korean Tilda
Leaves dies - Magnolia DooHickey Box
Canson Illustration paper
Watercolor : W&N - DS - Gansai Tambi

Thank you so much for stopping by and see you next time!

xoxo, Yulis

You are my favorite | Learn to doodling and painting a hill scene

Happy Friday all !!!
I am so glad to say hello again to you my lovely readers :)
and today I have a card to share with you featuring a cutest image from Magnolia latest release; Sweet pants Tilda

Look.. how cute she was!!
She is my favorite on this collection and how I adore her pose, her hair style .. seriously she is way too cute!!!

I am coloring her with watercolor, and if you spot for her blouse .. it just because I am so inspired by a pattern painted on my pencil case, you can see my Instagram post HERE.
and after I did her blouse I just can't resist to grab my pencil and doodling a hill scene behind her.
I love to use 0.2 pencil when I learn to draw.
and then I am painting everything with watercolor.

Here is the look from another angle,
I use tag dies from Magnolia Vintage box released some while ago and the bird is coming from the newest Magnolia Vintage Box 5 as well as the vintage script stamp that I used on the tag.
I learn to improve my doodling and painting,  I wish I can do better in the future, so I keep learn and learn ..

So that's my card for today, I hope you like it and I will see you again on the next post.
